Exhaust markings
OK, I know I'm a bit thick, so bear with me on this one?
I'm thinking of getting a Viper slip-on. It comes eith an E marked baffle. Can has no markings other than VIPER. Does this mean it's street legal? Sorry for being dim Rich |

As long as it DOESNT say "Not for road use on it" then it will pass an MOT

I'd check out the sticky thread in Biking Issues if I were you. MOT regs have changed. It's now up to the testers discretion whether they are too loud ot not regardless of markings.
A tester failed my twin Rene's a couple of months back and they have no markings whatsoever. |

Personally I'd say if you're going to use an aftermarket baffle it's better not to fake the e-marking. The reason being, e-marks don't guarantee a pass, but taking the **** pretty much guarantees a fail.

My tester says, "You got the original?" , "yes" says I. "OK, I tested it with that on".
Well he did last time. and I am going back this afternoon for a new ticket, so I will let you know if he has got mean in his old age. Update, Passed. He said "I prefer a loud exhaust, sometimes I loose bikes in my blindspot on the van, at least this way I know they are there". Top Man Whilst I was there, he failed an Aprilla before me, saying "You can't use the tank as a lock stop". You would have thought people would know the basics before taking their bikes for a test.

I had the MOT on the SV last weekend, and after some enthusiastic blipping, smiling and beard scratching, it passed.
Don't think they even spotted the e-mark stamped on the end-plate of the can. They were more intrested in the wavy discs. Dan. |
