Smile 125 Miles Until Fuel Light, Yippee

Hi All.

At last the fuel range is back to normal. A word of advice to anyone who is about to carry out throttle syncronisation on an injected SV. Pull off the throttle link rod and clean up the ball joints and lube them and then refit the link rod, then do the syncronisation.

Those who have read my earlier posts will know I have only been getting 90 miles to the fuel light since August last year. Every time I checked the sync it was always out, even minutes after the previous adjustment.

Tim.

Yeah but it sounds like the Joints were dry on the links , thus adding to the problem

Can't say I've ever touched the link rod, and balance my TB's every time I have the tank up.

Last tank I got around 140 miles before the light came on, and it was 165 miles before I got to the petrol station.

This time around, 130ish & the light started to flash on the way to work this afternoon.

Some do, some don't I suppose, dizzyblondes carb'd link rod was so worn that the rear cylinder wasn't actually firing at tickover...

Well I actually got over 100 miles to the fuel light for the first time on my K5 last weekend so it must be something in the air. Perhaps this warm weather has made us all slow down....?

Warm air = less dense with oxygen = wider throttle openings = more fuel used.

Also; warm days = thrashfest 2008

I've still been seeing the light come on at 135 miles

Bit mixed up as some are referring to carbs and others fuel injection
