Default Parting the Lowers

Afternoon all.

Been a member for a while, but don't post much. I've recently come into the SV world (and loving it).

I've bought a Stebel Nautilus as the stock one is not only poop when it works, but mine stops once the engine hits about 80degrees so though I'd get something better rather than the stock.

Which leads me onto my issue. I started to take the lowers off but the grommets (think that's what there are called) at the bottom just do not seem to want to come apart. I didn't want to force them and snap the fairings..

Anyone else had this issue? or any ideas on trying to get them apart?

Thanks in advance

From memory the centre pushes in, however it was awhile ago. I lost them when I put them in a safe place.
Mine are now bolted together at the bottom.

yes you need a thin tool like a small allen key or screw driver then from inside the fairing push on the centre of the grommet. Its best done with a good torch to see your pressing on the right bit and can need some force if the grommet is seized up with road gunk but the centre rivet should push out. Take care it doesnt fly off somewhere and then press out the rest of the grommet again from inside the fairing.....
