Default Anti-speed bike petition, Sign the Petition!!!!!

MCN has ridden the government's new anti-speeding bike and found the way it robs the rider of control to be potentially lethal. That's why from this week we're calling on them to: SCRAP IT NOW!
MCN is calling on the government this week to scrap its plans for bikes that take control away from the rider in order to make breaking speed limits impossible.

And we're calling on readers to get behind our campaign to abandon the fundamentally flawed idea after we rode a bike fitted with the technology last week and found it to be frightening, dangerous and a potential killer.

All you have to do to make your voice heard and support our campaign is click the link below to fill in the form and add your name to our petition. Only your name and email address are compulsory and are needed to ensure the validity of all the signatures.
We won't use the email address you put in here for any other reason.

Done.
I don't usually endorse MCN but this speed bike is sheer lunacy.

It'll never happen. How could you have police riders on bikes limited to 70mph...............and to only limit the general public's bikes would be discriminatory and in breach of so many rights it would be a can of worms not worth opening. And you could not make it a retro-active law, so other bikes would still be able to do their normal speeds anyway. Also, to limit ONLY bikes and not ALL vehicles would also be in breach of several rights...................the government couldn't afford to fight it through the court of human rights................and they certainly don't have the wherewithal to take on every vehicle manufacturer in the world!

Quite obvious that the Government as per feckin usual have gone ahead with a decision without thinking things through properly.
Sheer lunacy to have a bike which takes over from the rider.

Well seen there are no bikers in the Government.

I hate the lot of them.

Common sense??? Not very common!

Seems arether more likely to me that it's the usual MCN knee-jerk reaction- though I don't see the actual article they refer to on the website and I'm sure not buying the thing. I found an unattributed "it emerged today" about ISA, which I'm giving about as much credability as "my mate knew this guy who..."

As usual, northwind has to be right. It is just nonsense to put this sort of thing onto bikes. You speed limit bikes and not cars? There would just be tons of overtaking accidents resulting from it.

The only thing that seems in anyway close to being sane is some kind of a GPS monitor on the bike, that can be read after the fact. Then awkward questions could be asked. But, there is no way you can just have some device cutting in and stopping acceleration.
Its not even worth thinking about.

(Although... they are prosecuting a cyclist for cycling on the road.)
