T'internet
I have finally convinced my housemates to chip in and get the internet in our house. Three of us have either a laptop or a PC so it makes sense. Does anyone know who's doing the best deal at the moment and am i right in thinking that we'll need to get a wireless router if we all want to use the net at the same time?

You will need a router/modem. The router bit is what allows you all to access t'internet simultaneously. The modem bit handles the communications over phone line / cable to you ISP.
You only need wireless if you don't want to have cables trailing round the house. If you use wireless, secure it and install a good firewall on your laptop. |

I got Be There ADSL a couple of months ago, which I'm pleased with. £25 setup fee, £24 a month and for that you get a wireless router supplied to use with rather nippy 24mb connection
Not sure if it's the very best deal, but it's damn fast. |

I'm with bethere the same as Jordan.
If you have cable Virgin Media are doing a 2 for 20 deal with TV & Broadband for 20quid a month, or 30 with a phone line. Looks like a good deal. Dan |

Probably should have mentioned that we don't have a landline in the house and we don't have sky or cable. In fact we've only just got ourselves electricity.

Out of the two, cable is proberly cheaper to get installed. I seem to recall BT asking between 70 - 90quid for installation of a new phone line. No idea on what there internet secivice is like though. Dan |

It should only be £75 if there has never been a connection there. i think its to cover the bt costs when the line was originally installed, it's therefore related to first use of the line...
