Canal Boat Holiday
24th of April is C's b'day and I was thinking of something different this year
Has anybody been on a Canal Boat Holiday type of thing? Only looking for maybe 2-3 days as I can't afford to take any hols from work. If you know of anything around M'cr would be great. Thanks |

Re: Canal Boat Holiday
You've got a bit of choice round these parts mate. Not the cheapest option for a Holiday it has to be said but, possibly the best one you'll ever take. A week would be better as it takes you a day to chill out, then you just watch the world franticly running round all around you as you mooch along at 4mph. Been on a few as my folks own a boat, can't reccomend it enough mate, just check out the boats in the marinas first to make sure they renting you a pup.

Re: Canal Boat Holiday
There's a plus to Claymore as well 600, about 500yds away is the Preston Brook tunnel. one of the longest in the country and makes that canal route well worth a good look.

Re: Canal Boat Holiday
Bloody marvellous! It's a well known fact that you can start drinking at 1030 if you are in command of a vessel.
Try and rent from somewhere that sells hats that say 'Captain' and 'Galley Slave', brilliant! Watch out for Michael Douglas and Catherin Zeta Jones... In summary, been twice - Caledonian Canal (family) and River Great Ouse (lads)- and had a blast both times. Happy puttering |
