thinking of buying a new helmet

thinking of getting a flip front helmet but dont want to pay megabucks
if possible under £100 have been looking on fleabay and seen some caberg flip
which I understand was given a 5* safty rating, anyone had any experience of these and how do they rate for noise? will want to add autocom setup to it
any thoughts or recomends for a simular priced helmet or cheeper of course

i have looked at a Schuberth just to see the build quality and can clearly see you only get what you pay for but i just plain aint got the coffers

Schuberth are good, I ride with schuberth. Last years models aint that expensive, ring round some dealers. My lid was £220-£240 last year but I got it in october for £150 then had a smash a few days later and got exactly the same one again from a different dealer for the same price this week. Lozzo's the man in the know with this stuff and he says caberg are ****. If I was buying flip front I'd go for the best one possible as they are potentially a weak lid.

Go for the best quality full face lid you can afford IMO

and make sure it fits your head properly. thsi applies to any helmet you buy IMHO.

I hated mine too, just felt cheap and padding lost shape quickly.

I did mention the other day that there were some dead cheap HJC helmets on this site, haven't had any experience with HJC helmets though . . .so couldn't recommend

Personally I'd rather try it on in a shop as Ive found sizes vary quite a bit between the brands . ..

I had a concept (bought it 2 years ago for 180), didn't like one thing, the "flip jaw" bit was big and was always touching my schoulder armour when doing a check.
Worked v.good when I crashed. Now the c3 is out so maybe it's worth looking at the concept and c2.

If you gor for a full face, I have an schuberth r1 with a pinlock, works perfect @220 quid (+pinlock)

so you all seem to be saying that in order to get anything half decent you need to pay in excess of £100 ?
and in general flip fronts are not recomended ?

My other half will only wear his flip front helmet when he is doing short errands about town. he wouldn't trust it as far as he could throw it at high speeds.
Shark helmets have good reviews,I'm on my second, a little noisy(but a lot are these days) They are usually about 150. Think they have a cheaper range, and they have some that are more expensive
