Weirdo. Yeah, it's a pretty easy swap, to be honest I can't remember exactly what was involved, whether it needed a hole enlargened slightly or not, but I do know it only took minutes to fit whatever.

The hole on one end needs enlarging very slightly. Apart from that a straight 5 min swap.

Re: Ally Rear brake caliper torque arm ...from GIXER SRAD
A bit of update / information.
A couple of the arms had bolts with them and I noticed the bolts were waisted(think that's the correct term) and so decided to try if using them would work...saving having to widen holes(presumme that's what Northy and Andy meant. Of to SV outside to try. Hmm, find out the end on the Ally ones that bolts onto the swinging arm was not wide enough....huh!!. Definitely would need to be wider--about a mm side......dunno why really but could be, certain years were narrower as the are two different bolts listed on the parts fiche.....so anyone lookign to do same bear that in mind. Took them to a local engineering firm who milled off the required amount. The bolts(waisted) work so that was good. Only had two bolts and nuts(locking nut) but after going through my box of bolts found one more...so still two to go lol. Found a couple more bolts which had to be cut down and also made some top hat sleeves(either end of pic)making the above bolts work in a similar way to the OE bolts. Top hat sleeves are nothing fancy and could have had a better finish but tool was a bit blunt but works as should To cap, three people would get the OE blts and nut and two more would get the HT bolts an dthe top hat sleeves......possibly could always buy the OE bolts at a later date but at between £2.50 and £3.00, not sure if it's wort it. If I do find some more bolts, I'll send them along. So, old one off , new one on...nothing else to do. Sort that lot out meant no posting, so off they go in the morning. Cheers Ben PS: Remember , you have to use the locking nuts and not just any nut. Four OE type are provided and a the fifth is a Nylock nut. |
