No spark - Curvy.
so as tha title suggests, engine turns but i got no spark on either cylinder so it wont start..
obviously tried checking fuses, replacing plugs, even borrowed known working coils off a friend, nothing.. ignition relay seems to be working as its clicking but other than that dont know what else to check ti pinpoint the prob.. an ancient manual i have suggests checking the signal generator but my knowledge on electrics is limited and im a bit hesitant in opening up the engine:P any ideas guys(/girls) ?? |

Re: no spark
Have you checked the pickup coil/CDI unit etc?

But before doing that, check the pickup coil resistance and for earth grounding. Do you have a multimeter handy? |

No need to take anything off the engine, just unplug it from the loom and check the connectors. IIRC the three contacts shouldn't show continuity between any of them, it should show a resistance which I can't recall, and generate x amount of volts when turning the engine over. This happened to me, I'll try and find the thread. |

Re: no spark
Should only be two wires, not three. One green, one white. 140 to 230 ohms at 20 deg c. Neither should show continuity to the engine earth when the coil connector is disconnected from the loom.

Re: no spark
Ignore my last post, completely wrong! Check this thread!
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ighlight=Spark In particular the bit about the signal generator. This tells the bike when to spark each plug, though I think both spark anyway regardless of which one is needed. Last edited by sam anon; 11-06-12 at 08:14 PM. |
