Ex wife was a community midwife without a driving licence (stupid woman) but she got about on a moped of all things. I acted as chauffeur for her a couple of times - until she passed her car test - when she was called in the middle of the night and attended a few births without actually doing anything down the business end. It's quite an experience and I really don't understand why the hell some women do it time after time.

Just playing! But now you mention it, I would say hovering the lounge is way less hardcore than baby delivery.

Got our 2nd due in June. Incase it happens to us, I think I'll start watching 'one born every minute' on catchup!

My misses is due in May and we watch that (I'm doing the supportive thing). She spends the whole time crying though, either out of fear (I remember 'labour is the worst pain you'll ever experience' being mentioned) or cos of the cuteness of the new babies!

I'm looking forward to leaving the whole thing to a professional tbh.

Actually, once the trauma/shock of the birth was over, the experience of a home birth was really good. Calm and serene unlike a hospital would have been.
How I wish more people thought like this!!

Bravo to the bloke, and the misses for doing it without pain relif!

Not that it was me but a lad at football delivered his own son in thier bathroom.
First contraction to birth was less than 30min, did it with assistance from the midwife unit over the phone.
His misses woke up with the pains, went for a wee while he chucked the bags in the car.
He came in and she was on the bathroom floor with the midwife on the phone... naturally it was all his fault at this stage already.
Few minutes later he's a dad, few hours later they're on the front of the local rag with the head line "dad gives birth in toilet" heehehe YUP he got some stick!

Foals, yes.
Calves, yes.
Lambs, yes.
Gorgeous noisy little piglets, yes...lots of them.
Human babies, no...but I would if needed to. Just kind of hope it would never have to come to that.!

!
I gave birth to my first son with no pain relief whatsoever.
The midwife for the evening gave me gas and air, told me how to use it, and proclaimed 'but I don't want you to use it, as it will be a long night dear' To which I replied....ok well, I don't fancy that so will go without' and threw the face thing round the back of the bed and went to sleep(well actually I was meditating, but people look at me strange when I say that).
Three hours later all hell let loose, and the midwife ran in, then promptly out again screaming 'HEEELLLP, this babies coming now!' Ten minutes and no pain relief, my son was born.

It was agreed my next one, would arrive on the kitchen floor, as record timing for a first birth, was the benchmark for the second. I didn't get the chance with Oli, as they cheated me out of having him properly!

Wonder if I should have another go....and take bets
