Default Anyone live in or near Grantham

Morning all,

Long time since I posted, me and the family are looking to relocate to Lincolnshire from Berkshire, we have family in North Hykeham so naturally we started looking here.

My question is does anyone on here have any experience of Grantham in Lincs, good bad or ugly any input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
David

Traffic through the town can be a real pig nearly all the daytime.

Some of the Lincolnshire roads are meant to very nice, watch out for their red roads though, they're tempting for speed but highly policed apparently.

The traffic can't really be worse than Reading though right? Haha I've ridden in and around reading quite a few times and it's never been particularly enjoyable :P

You'd want a reason to go there. South part of Lincs is pretty uninspiring on a good day so unless you need to be down there then some of the places west of Lincoln, or the city itself, are a better bet. I like Lincoln, it's not really like a big city.

I last drove through Reading 35 yrs ago and the traffic was horrible then. Must be much worse now so Grantham will be a doddle for you on a bike.

See we have family in North Hykeham and we love it there, I don't like the area just up from this (Bracebridge) I think it's called. Don't really want to live North of the city due to work and commuting.

Traffic is horrific at the best of time, travelling from my house in Tilehurst to my Mum's in Woodley which should take about 20mins on a clear run takes me around 45-60mins at any point over the weekend. Council over the years ahs removed all but a few roundabouts and replaced them with traffic light controlled junctions which has made traffic worse, especially on the A4 at Calcot. They seem hell bent on making more space for cyclists by putting ridiculous cycle lanes in which actually make the risk to cyclists greater and widening paths but all this does is add to congestion as the roads get narrower. And don't get me started on trying to cross the Thames, large town like Reading and we only have 2 small bridges.
