I have an old (8 years ish) Toshiba Satellite laptop which has served me well, it's still running Win7 which has never been reloaded (only copied to another drive). It's had a couple of different drives as I've been tinkering and it ran ubuntu for a while. The only problems I've had with it concerned the case - the hinges succeeded in ripping out of their supports which required epoxy and nuts/bolts to reassemble it.

I've fitted an SSD (the original drive still works) and a 5Ghz wifi adaptor but, for the second time, the battery has died. I decided to get a larger capacity battery which now bulges out below the main chassis like a hernia. The battery seems to have totally confused Windows estimation of charge remaining and it now results in giving wild guesses in the hope that one of them may be correct.
It started this morning (7am) with 100% and 3hrs 40 min remaining (which was poor), it's now almost noon and it's saying 47% and still 3 hours 40 min remaining although it did sneak in a 6 hours remaining an hour ago. I think the poor thing needs a rest.

Haven't swam since I qualified as a lifeguard, but stuck 40 lengths in this morning and rather enjoyed it.. Post gym, swim so I was feeling the shoulder burn for much of it

Looked out the back windows, the camilia and magnolia are in bloom, beech trees budding. Out the front the red robin is in bud.

Autumn may be my favorite season as the colours change especially on the beech. But Spring, it has arrived. Regrowth has happened.

Now off to watch my daughter lead her first couch to 5k on their celebration run in the rain, She only did her first last year and is now leading a group whilst progressing to 10K herself.

So a genuine smile from me as I get high on life.

Just got my renewal letter for insuring my Subaru WRX, fully comp with protected no claims bonus. Last year was £285, this year; exactly the same.

I always ask for it to be cheaper, the vehicle is a year older so worth less and I have another year's driving experience with no claim.

LPH. Actually, when I bought the car last year, I paid around the average price for age, condition, mileage etc. Looking online now, similar cars are advertised at around the same price or more than than i paid.

Went into Welshpool on the bike to do some banking and get a coffee.

SotD #1: Took a detour home down one of my favourite short roads, the B4390. Did it East to West this time as I was coming from Welshpool, but normally I prefer it West to East as it gets more intense as you go along it that way.

Outside all afternoon, sorting out my badly neglected garden. Loads more to do but very satisfying so far.

Nothing for the tip for us Mike but lots for the compost bins. Actually I need to construct more compost bins as the old ones are falling to bits. I'm busy collecting pallets to do this and also to use for rebuilding my veg beds. My veg plot is on a very steep slops so all the beds are terraced, and after 20 years the sleepers and various other bits of timber used for this are rotting.

Hoping to get back onto it again this afternoon.
