I had the same advisory two years in a row on my GSX. Our old friend Spannerman serviced it and when he looked he said (in a very gravelly voice between rollups) "it's fine Trev". Third year and the very same MoT centre never mentioned it...

Whenever an MoT tester says something needs doing I always get a second opinion.

Yep, this guy also says there's play in the rear suspension linkage and it'll need a grease up. He used to say the same about my SV. It'll be interesting to see what he says this June.

Someone told me that they need to put something down on the mot report to make it look like they've done a thorough job as their work is assessed.

Yet mine go the other way.... My rear pads wear much faster than they used to on my previous bikes. It's due to the linked brakes on VFR, rears come on when using the front.... Still only needed replacing every 24K miles though.

This has always come up from tine to time on my VFRs. Never needed to do anything.

I assumed the same thing about the linked brakes. Normally I would have checked before ordering but that meant taking the wheel off and I was being lazy.

I had rear pads advisory on my SV. I fitted new ones a year later and was fine.

Mot tester, 'There's only 10k miles or so left on those pads sir'.
Me, 'So another 2-3 years before I need to change them then'

And that's if you use the rear brake as much as the front brake.

I hardly used the rear on the SV. I don't have a choice on the VFR

I use the rear and engine braking much more than the front. The front is for when I REALLY need to stop. Like yesterday when a Harley rider pulled out from a side road, saw his mate stopped on the verge and then hit his brakes while still side on to me.

Had planned on the years first real ride out on the bike.
Got her all ready last weekend.
The bike is right.
The weather is right.
But the rider was not.
Turned around at the first intersection and came back home.

Apparently have injured the ankle again on the broken leg (from 16 months ago) that I'm still recovering from.
I knew it was swollen but didn't realize I wouldn't be able to bend it far enough down to get under the shifter.
I managed to get it back home using the edge of the sole on the side of the shoe to upshift.
Guess Spring will have to wait a few more weeks.
