Default Snetterton 5th Sept - Rapid Training

I've signed up for the novice group! Still can't work out how much of this day will be training versus track day but it will be my first of either so can't complain. Anyone else going?

This is monday, absolutely crapping myself! I'm sure I'll have a blast, just hope I keep the bike up-right because it's a long way back to London!

Don't you'll have a fab day at the new Snetterton track. I rode it for the first time in April and I was a novice then too. First session was a bit nervy, but once you realise there's no cars and other carp, its great.

You'll make mistakes, but thats part of it.

2nd track day I got my knee down

So long as there aren't any kn0bs pretending to be novices

Are you doing the new 300 circuit?

Don't worry, relax and early on in the day make use of any instructors there.
I got my first knee down last month at 'Palmer', or if you're a Murkin 'Turn 3'!

Hope you get some good weather and have a great day

Well it's the day after the track day before and I had an awesome time! (Naturally!) First session was only 10 mins as one of the inter's managed to drop their wallet and mobile phone on the track!
Second session I had a nightmare and came in a lap early as I was so thrustrated, however for the third session I went out with one of the instructors, Mark Robins who was fantastic and after that i felt myself grow and grow. I even had a Hayabusa owner compliment me on my lines and that he was following me for a few laps!
For me I found (having had my licence 6 months) that I was managing better lines and corners than most but come the straights, despite hammering it, the bigger bikes were getting past me on the two straights.
Still lots to work on but can't wait to book my next track day!

As for Rapid Training, it's essentially a track day but each group has 3 instructors who you can ask to go out with, first come first served. For the novice group you have a meeting before the first session and one afterwards. It's mainly just talking about the track itself, the lines to take into the corners and general rules and courtesy. If you want to learn anything, it's either self taught, or by grabbing the instructors.

I was quite happy with the novice group. There were 2-3 REALLY slow people. There were some people that I would take on the outside of corners but would keep taking me again on the straights which got annoying at times. One guy was moved up early on following some complaints and there was the odd dodgy overtaking manouver by some individuals but all in all I felt very comfortable.

Oh and it was the old circuit this time. They're doing the 300 next year.

I still need to conquer the Montreal hairpin. Just couldn't get it right consistently plus was having problems dropping down and ending up in neutral a few times. Eurgh.
