No wonder there are so many thefts if they know the police can't do anything.

Corrected, there is a lot they can do. Bike theft is not a priority.

I meant can't as in they don't have the resources to deal with things like that. Not can't as in they don't have the powers. I am sure the police would like to see every single crime solved and a conviction made but the powers that be think a better use of their time is mountains of paper work and sitting at the side of empty straight roads trying to catch people doing 5 mph over the speed limit.

unfortunately with the elaspsed time no doubt the bike is already at its destination in europe somewhere. As mentioned before mates bike was nicked from central london and the van was tracked on the same day to tilbury docks container with a load of other bikes.

Makes you wonder what you actually need to do to catch a thief given that there is time stamp, location, video footage plus plenty of cctv in london, mobile phone records. It is organised crime with high value items. If the thieves went in to a post office and held it up and took 6k I'm sure they would work a bit harder.
The article claims 35 vehicles per day ( arbitary 6k per vehicle) were taken so its like 210k thefts every day just in central london.

I hope their nuts go green, shrivel up and fall off.

a friend back home (a security guard moreover ) had 3 bikes stolen (gixxer 1000, then rc8 then 1198 sp), and the police was doing nothing apart for apologising... he took the chance and remained to sleep in the garage for a month before hearing one night something happening right outside the garage door...and when the thieves opened it he was there waiting with a baseball... needless to say the 2 guys remained over a month in an hospital bed to recover, but at least the police "confirmed" that it was right self defence because they were two....
...the funny thing is that none of the person living in the building had something stolen from the garage again...
..if it's true that justice is god's, i'd like to be the left hand from time to time!!
