Default Motorbike MOT

Hey all, for the first time ever I've had a bike long enough that it may need MOT'ing soon.
How many years after registration does it need to be MOT'd?

The current bike was registered Oct 2003 so it's been 3 years, 4 Months now and I'm trying to renew the Tax disk online but it's saying it's missing an MOT...tax runs out tommorow...

*Nothing like leaving it to the last moment huh*

If you'd of been stopped by the law in the last 4 months, you'd of been royally whatsited.

A new vehicle is exempt from MOT's for 3 years only.

God Dammit.
Another expense, time to call the Garage.

So they send you reminders about tax but not MOT then?

Yup, don't think I've ever had a reminder about MOT. Didn't get the last 2-3 reminders about tax either though.

I don't think you get an MOT reminder, but you do get tax. Because obviously that's much more important. I forget every year tbh, and I will do again this year, I always end up in Dalziels on a saturday morning at 8.30 because it's the only place they can fit me in at, well, no notice at all

I got stopped in a buslane by 2 non-traffic cops last year when my MOT was one day past, still amazed I got away with that. Black visor, loud can, small plate, no MOT...

Under the new mot system you will now (or should) get MOT reminders, its all done on a new computer database thingy but you have to get the first mot done before you get onto the system

(technical I know) but I did get a reminder for my old bike so the system works, even though I'd since sold it

Did you take it to the vet or to the garage?
