Talking After 7 1/2 years of riding got my first speeding ticket on the SV

So i been riding for 7 1/2 years and had 2 offs but until today no speeding tickets, was caught doing 38mph in a 30mmph, annoying thing is i know the camera its on my way home from work and its about 20 yards after the 30mph signs as the limit drops from 40mph to 30mph. Caught me fair and square. lol

Good thing is i can do an awareness course and avoid points or a fine

Funny it was on the SV as i've had much bigger faster bikes and never been caught

Is the course thing a countrywide thing? I got caught a couple of weeks ago, just sent my licence off and just about to say goodbye to £60. Pretty annoyed now that I found I could have gone on a course which would have been a lot more useful (and money saving of course)

you still get to pay the fine.. and get to sit thru' a (imho) a very boring lecture on speed awareness... the only benefit is no points on your licence (and the repercussions of that)

According to the letter you have to pay for the cost of the course which is less than £60 you would pay in a fine

i think if its a static one you have the choice from course or points, and if its a mobile one you have to have the points...

Not correct. Depends on the speed and the region. Nothing to do with fixwd or mobile.

+1, I got caught by a mobile scamera van and got offered points or speed awareness course by Norfolk Constabulary.

Cost me £125 if I remember, but cheaper than points in the long run

Do you have to declare a speed awareness course to your insurer? I presume you are still technically convicted of speeding, therefore have to declare something?

Pegs had a clean vehicle license for 20 years. He got his first points last year, when he decided to take a quick ride for a bit o cake in Liverpool on the sly!
He'd been followed all the way from the dock, on the ZZR, bimbling away at 30mph, and with the sliproad in sight for the motorway rolled on the throttle, to be caught for speeding by the car following him a wee bit behind

There were loads of people putting their foot down as he sat there, taking his points and fine. The coppers had the cheek to ask if the ZZR was his, they had a thought it may be stolen and once on the motorway couldn't have caught him, so pulled him over quick, then issued him with points when they found him to be the owner.......correct me if I'm wrong, but since when does a bloke in several hundreds of pounds worth of Rukka textiles and a Shoei helmet, minding his own business, look like a scouser tea leaf

I don't think they offered him any speed awareness course, or he'd have taken it.
