Default My bike is dead

It has been lying for 8 weeks, and I bunged the trickle charger on today, and I'm getting a red light on the charger, which is good apparently, but tried to start it after 5 hours on it and nowt-dead as a dead thing.

No lights, not even neutral, just nothing. Does this sound like a new battery job or something electrical? I do have hot grips wired to the battery and they are dead too, but they weren't left on. Any ideas? It's def not the kill switch, cos I've done that before. I'm not very mechanically minded so speak slowly.....;o)

You'd need to test the battery with a multi-meter to really know, could be just a blown fuse.

Shouldn't you have put the trickle charger on 8 weeks ago?

Sounds like your battery has passed the point of no return. Have you got an alarm ? they really do knackered the battery if its left to stand for any length of time.

As Grinch says get somebody to check the voltage on the battery befoer you shell out for a new one just to be certain. But I'd be reasonably confident that its the battery thats causing the problem.

checked the main fuse on the starter relay? with that blown it would mean nothing works.

Even fairly dead batt would likley have some juice to just put dim lights on i think.

Did the multimeter, showed dead battery. Jumped it off oh's bike, and then it's had a run and seems to be ok. Thanks guys, was getting worried there! Haven't been able to ride recently as have been having various balance problems, but will remember to trickle charge next time.

I don't have an alarm, but I think the hot grips may have been left on - by oh, but he's denying it

Thankyou.
