Default Helmet + Leathers cover

Well, it's insurance renewal time...

I will soon have a lid which is actually worth insuring, so am looking for insurance for it. I have seen the phrase "if an accident is reported to your insurance" a couple of times. The problem I have is I'm quite unlikely to report an accident to my insurance, I don't want to have that on my record from some piddly little lowside (etc.) and get shafted next year for it.

So then, can you claim on this here cover without losing NCB etc. My insurance will probably be TPO or TPFT

if it's not fully comp i doubt you'll get cover for your kit as it's your property, plus if you make a claim for kit it's the same policy as if you crashed the bike so i'd imagine you would lose the NCB

could you not get your kit insured on your house contents policy for accidental damage if you're worried about dropping it?

Express Insurance threw in helmet / leather cover and some "XS Protect" thing for free (obviously included in the overall price).

As to your question, I've just read through the policy which appears to be seperate to the main bike policy and no where in the terms & conditions does it say that you have to report the motorcycle accident. Only reference it has to an "accident" is that the damage must be caused due to a motorcycle accident and not wear and tear, rot etc etc.

So judging by that I think as long as you can provide evidence that you did fall off your bike (photo?) I think they can pay out for leathers/helmet without you having to claim for the bike damage.

I have helmet and leathers cover with Carole Nash. I understand they will also offer it to those who don't insure their bikes with them.

Last year it cost me 35 quid.

I think for what you're saying chris your probably going to need the cheapest basic cover and then see if you can get lids and leathers insured on a seperate policy...but I don't know where would do that

Chris, after my last off I was able to claim for a new lid, boots and armour off my home contents policy. It was classed as sports equipment! I am with Direct Line. If you have home contents cover, it may be worth seeing if it would cover it.

Yeah, add it away from home on your contents- however, make sure it's covered for full accidental damage.

Snap, renew on 16th, but thier renewal was 0.75p less than last year!

concidering I have gained an extra NCB (2) I was expecting better, and I got better, Bikesure are giving awesome deals, but my IAM insurer matched that policy and gave me Pncb.

oh.. for 1/2 the price of the CN renewal
