BSB vs WSBK rules
are the BSB & WSBK rules different (from each other) this year? the BSB Duc's seem to be running 1200's & the WSBK's are 1098, although the Duc website says the SBK1098R-08 is actually 1198cc

Re: BSB vs WSBK rules
The WSB Dukes are 1200cc's as well.
I think WSB though allows a higher state of tune, whereas BSB the bikes have to be more showroom spec in terms on engine parts. The manufacturers were moaning about it in MCN, as they reckon the stock parts arent suitable and are contributing to engine blow ups ala Tom Sykes weekend just gone.

are the superstock 1098's real 1098's or are they 1200's too? |

Re: BSB vs WSBK rules
Superstocks are not Rs yet- not allowed until Ducati sell 1000 of them. Only standard 1098 allowed in Superstock. This is in British anyway.
Or so I'm led to believe! |

Re: BSB vs WSBK rules
The 1098R is in fact an 1198cc engine. I cannot remember why they can't run in the British superstock series but for some reason it does ring a bell that they are not homologated(sp?). If Ducati do not sell the required number of these £24000 bikes then the teams running them could face huge fines.

Re: BSB vs WSBK rules
The Ducati 1098's in both BSB and WSB are race versions of the 1098R road bike, so all three are 1198cc.
Technically the 1098R hasn't fully passed BSB homologation rules yet and so the Ducatis in BSB also run the risk of being disqualified or pulled out of competition, but this was never a problem for Foggy with the FPR 1 in WSB. Personally I think the rules should be changed, Jonathan Palmer and his gang are clueless, and the issues raised after the Brands Hatch races needs a quick and serious look at!
