Home made BBQ Smoker
I've been after a proper smoker BBQ for ages but always been shocked at the price, so, I decided to get my Hipster on and break out the welder!
It's two gas cylinders, free from a friendly local supplier, plus a few odd bits of steel I had lying around from past projects. It's mounted on metal posts into a railway sleeper so it can be put inside over winter. The wall is covered in reclaimed slates and the stone monolith is one I've had for years. New American style BBQ smoker by valandpetephillips, on Flickr At the moment, I'm smoking beef short-rib, rubbed with a simple salt and herb rub, but a BBQ sauce will be applied in, oh, about four hours after they've had an hour in a beer bath! Mmmm. Beef ribs by valandpetephillips, on Flickr I'm also making Moink balls! That's the moo from a cow and the oink from a pig - beef meatballs wrapped in streaky bacon, smoked for an hour. Thanks to the Grillstock book for the inspiration! https://books.google.co.uk/books/abo...ir_esc=y&hl=en The only shame is that someone has to look after it all afternoon! Volunteers? Oh, that'll be me with some beers then! Pete

Re: Home made BBQ Smoker
Sounds delicious, and I like the way the chimney is the right height to discharge the smoke into next door's garden rather than choke up your own patio

Re: Home made BBQ Smoker
^ this, though I reckon if it was billowing smoke over my fence an invite to the feast would be mandatory, otherwise the hose pipe would be making an appearance

Re: Home made BBQ Smoker
To be honest, when it's at the right temperature, there's barely any smoke. Smoke is a pollutant, so is noise, and my neighbours are noisy, but I don't hose then down, much as I'd like to!

Re: Home made BBQ Smoker
So the AR2016 is to try out your tasty offerings and make some noise to keep your neighbours awake. Good idea
