The only thing about crossrail that surprises me is you dont have postie's suing the government for back ache carting about all the brown envelopes that are making the silver spoon crowd even richer, big burgeoning white elephant of a project.

Oddly I don't object to Crossrail as much - it will make a difference to the overcrowding on some of the routes in/out of London and provide more choice. BUT, this sort of improvement MUST be equally applied across the country or it's intrinsically unfair.

There is no fair in politics, only expedient.

Big infrastructure projects like Crossrail, HS2, and Leeds Flood Alleviation generally enjoy cross party support. The Tories vote for them because it's their sponsors who end up with the profits, and Labour vote for them because it's jobs for the union members who pay their bills. So both parties have a vested interest in these projects.

I loved driving the A68 to Edinburgh. Only used the A1 when the weather was too bad (snow) on the A68.
