Re: Pilot Road 4
If only. (sigh) I've been to (or through) the area I'm going to, at least a hundred times. Three of those times it didn't rain.

Re: Pilot Road 4
Well, the rain up to GM was Biblical!
But the rest of it, and Applecross, more than made up for it. Tyres never skipped an inch, wet or dry, but some would say I wasn't really trying! Happy daze.

Re: Pilot Road 4
180 miles on a rear PR4, they dont have slide about till scrubbed in. its still early but they dont feel as planted in the wet as the PR3. spinning up and stepping out is very gentle with no drama. very nice tyre so far.
i think they are narrower then the PR3 and dont look pinched on the rim, i also think they are a bit taller with a slightly steeper profile. |

The rear is taller than the 3. The front is about the same. Does not have the falling through the bends feeling like pr2s 4's You won't regret it.

Re: Pilot Road 4
its still a bit early to tell but my thoughts so far are that the PR3 would be an ideal winter tyre while the PR4 seems to be a bit more suited to wet/dry summer as judging by the heat generated in the PR4 is seems a bit colder to the touch that what i remember the PR3 being. the PR4 is slightly quicker at dropping in than the PR3.
i have not ragged the PR4 yet as i was still getting used to the new profile plus it autumn with wet leaves and farmer muck all over the place and i have a 1/2 worn PR3 on the front. the PR3 is a superb tyre and i would say that if you have never had one then you would be amazed at the PR4. all the drama i had on my 180 miles bimble was due to scrubbing in but once the parts that were scrubbed in gave no drama afterwords. i'm not going to stick my neck out yet as to how good it is till i have put more miles on it but so far so good and i'm liking it. the rider behind me when i was out actually seen the rear stepping out on a few occasions, yes i felt it but it was a nice gentle/controllable stepping out with no cause for alarm unlike the PR2 which would give no warning then let go then grip again. the PR4 just puts you onto a nice gentle slide and lets you ride through it. |

Re: Pilot Road 4
yup PR3 is a safe bet but some people dont like the 'pulsing' on the front under braking.
having not tried the PR4 front yet i can say what its like but littleoldman2 seems to like it on the BMW K1200. |

Re: Pilot Road 4
I do like it so far. Not pushed it yet as only just scrubbed in. We (wife and I) had a little slide on some of that shiny repair stuff they fill cracks with after about 225 miles, enough to make the wife slap me. It was dark and raining heavily with some surface water (B711 west of the reservoir) hence I didn't see it. As Lance says when it loses grip it does so gradually and regains grip the same way. Did 325 miles and all seems well. I was well happy with the PR3s wet or dry so we shall see with a few more miles. As for heat, to the touch the PR4 front felt similar to the PR3 rear, but that's very subjective.
