I'd leave it bare, just polish up the downpipe

Default SVBMX Build Thread - UPDATE

Small update...

I realise I've not been on here a great deal lately, probably because i've been out enjoying my bike

Anyway, i decided i needed to get some srad750 bars to match the rest of my front end. I've been running some other 50mm bars that work fine but are only fixed on by clamping to the fork legs, whereas the srad750 bars locate and fix to the top yoke too. They were a bit of hassle to fit, mainly because i had 2 snapped bolts... one of the bars ends and one of the locator holes on the underside of the yoke. So after some drilling and tapping they were on and secure

I've also gone ahead and fitted the R6 throttle tube and grips. I was curious as to how much difference the 'mod' would actually make and for the sake of 20 quid i thought id give it a go.

In my opinion, a huge difference. Well to me anyway! Maybe it just suits my riding style. Im finding it 10x easier pulling away, and getting the power down is a dream

+1 on the speedo, very nice!

Although it may just the angle but something looks a little offset, is that just me?

Beautiful fabrication. Is that your profession?

Did you have space to fit a better shock, like an 05 ZX6 shock?

It would look brilliant with a GSXR rear wheel conversion.

Thinking i could make it from some sheet aluminium, and have it powder coated black to match the engine black. And could possibly fill the V-shape (front view) with a black mesh of sorts.
i like the look of this belly pan / smash plate

have you had any luck with it yet ?

It is a tiny bit off central but the photo does make it look worse than it is. That being said, it will get adjusted when ive got time.

Thanks. Im a design engineer so id like to think ive got a good eye for things. I designed and cut all the subframe to have it welded by a friend at work.

Id like to fit the zx6r shock but unfortunately i didnt take it into account when i made the subframe. It looks as if it might fit but the reservoir will either be extremely close or colliding with the metal work. I really need to get hold of a shock to offer it up.

I do find the stock rear shock to do a perfectly good job as it is though. I've lost a lot of weight from the rear end, the stock subframe, plastics etc weighed a ton, perhaps this has helped take some strain away from the shock. I dunno!

Im not so sure about the gsxr wheel conversion. I mean, the wider rear wheel does look cool but i wouldnt want to sacrifice handling. Its so much fun to ride as it stands

I mocked up something in cardboard but wasn't overly sold by it!

Like Maviczap suggested, il just polish the exhaust, make it look abit prettier i think

Small update...

Decided the chrome around the headlight had to go so went about painting it myself. Rather pleased with myself, turned out pretty good! Might try get hold of some rad end plates and colour match those too, could look good.
