Re: Considering putting stock muffler back on :-s
Tomorrow's job is to see if I can get the old exhaust back on. I'm due a service soon anyway so that's next week's job

Re: Considering putting stock muffler back on :-s
Sunday morning I got the old loud carbon exhaust off but quickly realised that the stock pipe I bought, has an excess of pipe. Better than not enough I suppose. Anyway, it's been taken down to my uncle who deals with anything motorcycle related in Portsmouth, to have it cut and fitted properly.
I'll let you know the outcome of my sewing machine when I pick it up this evening! Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk |

Re: Considering putting stock muffler back on :-s
I've been riding my now, stock sv650 for just over a week.
It's quiet, so much more quiet and my ears are thanking me. Now that the exhaust isn't making all the noise I can hear the engine which is nice. I'm pleased I made the decision to put the stock back on. I've saved money on insurance and my neighbours don't get woken up at the crack of dawn. In terms of fuel efficiency, that will have to wait for now. Not had a good enough run out yet. Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk |

Sounds like (no pun intended) a step in the right direction, worth pointing out though that some road users / pedestrians may be less aware of you approaching.
(I am now reminded of the "loud pipes save lives" T shirt I saw worn by a Performance Bikes "Readers special" owner back in the eighties. I seem to remember he was stood next to a Kawa stroker triple.)

Agreed. They are maybe better though at waking pedestrians up out of the smartphone induced brain fug that half of them seem to wander around in. I'm not making the case, merely pointing out to the O.P. he may need to be a little more vigilant.
An interesting video: https://youtu.be/tUmWXvaG22Y

Re: Considering putting stock muffler back on :-s
Everyone's needs are different.I ride a lot of Single-Track roads with Passing points. With the stock exhaust I could be upon walkers and Horse riders before they knew I was there. With the Slip-on(But with the Baffle in) it's nicely loud enough for them to be warned of my approach.
As for lots of lights or bright lights on the front of the Motorcycle the distracted driver that pulls out on you will say the same thing they always say e.g,"I never saw the Motorcycle" I use,"The Smidsy" and it works, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqQBubilSXU You get some funny looks from drivers but that tells that they have seen you As for Insurance they are mad.Bikesure wanted a Renewal from my £170 to £220 so I shopped around again and went with Bennets with all things declared got it for £99!!!

I do a lot of street riding so always vigilant and usually very careful. Been riding bicycles for a while so that keeps you on your toes!

Re: Considering putting stock muffler back on :-s
I used to use that weaving movement passing junctions and it was the first thing I was picked up on during IAM training. I was told not to weave too much and a simpler sideways and back once was better. Otherwise I was just setting myself up to be off balance if anything did happen. As long as you move to stand out from the background.
