Re: Riding with no end can
Yep, on the A82, half way back from Inverness, the gixxer zorst died, with the endcan breaking away from the pipe totaly (huge rust issue as it had just done it's 3rd winter).
Thank god for earplugs! That said, the 4 inch section of scaffolding pipe welded in to replace it lasted till she got sold! |

Re: Riding with no end can
GSXR's sound awful with no exhaust!
The 800 has virtually no exhaust on the M4 system, the can has a solid tube in the centre rather than the perforated one. It does sound good, it has a nice agressive birble, it is a little rough on tick over but that could be other things with this motor. |

Re: Riding with no end can
My Firestorm was quieter with the Scorpion race silencers removed - it got louder when you put them back on... go figure!

Re: Riding with no end can
I could easily have done so when I still had my R6 megaphone can (often described as a link pipe) but I was warned it was really bad for the engine
So it's just been done at rest, not riding it. |

Re: Riding with no end can
as if the R6 megaphone is that different
Wont harm engine, but might need to be jetted to suit.

Re: Riding with no end can
Yep, once on my way around the south circular, on the speed triple!
The clip holding the exhaust onto the pipe had rusted through and worked its way loose. I think I woke the dead, i got some odd looks when i pulled into wattling tyres anyway.... But I wouldn't do it on purpose (my cans are only 106dB normally! ) . Dan |

Re: Riding with no end can
No but I always wanted to. The Hornet sounds like a GP bike with just the link pipe on. I can see me getting up early on Sunday and doing this........will stick the silencer in my back pack and pretend it had fallen off if Mr Plod questions me.
I think I'll need some ear defenders though........ |
