PD is pumpe duse, unit injectors. A medium pressure pump feeds a fuel rail, the injectors all have a mechanism on top that the camshaft pushes down to create high pressure. Each injector basically has its own high pressure pump.
Common rail has a high pressure pump that feeds a fuel rail common to the whole bank of injectors. I know a lot of folk running the PD's on bio and they're great and that's abusing them with oddball fuels. Read round a bit more I reckon you'll find more CR bother the more you look.
