Default Chain & Sprockets Again.

How much am I looking at to get them fitted at a bike shop?

Can you still bring your own kit or will they look at you funny / overcharge you labour ?

Also what is the correct size I need?

45 rear but what is the front one ?

I might go 46 maaaaaaaaaaaybe 47 but I'm worried about the fuel consumption as I use the bike for commuting.

Oh and final question: If I have this done at a bike shop - will they check the wheel alignment aswell?

Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Supplied and fitted, approx £140.

Find out the labout charge beforehand, should be approx £40.

The S is 44 rear, the naked 45. The front on both is 15

With 46 you won't notice much difference in consumption (providing you're sensible) but you will notice a difference in acceleration, particularly away from the lights.

No. They'll just put the wheel on and make sure the chain adjuster marks are the same. Every time you take the wheel off the adjustment naturally needs doing again, but is usually only slightly out when using the chain adjusters as a visual guide. If you're really particular, then you'll have to use the string method (or some such) to set it precisely.

That's perfect. Thanks a lot jonboy.

So I'd like to go 15 front & 46 rear.

Will the 110 link chain be long enough? (As this is normally for 15F45R)?

i recently check'd my rear wheel alignment to find it was out using the string method, i'm glad in my own mind now knowing its right. dont rely on the markings on the swingarm they can be 1/4 of an inch out.

Hadn't you best make a better job of it then?

Yes, it'll be perfect (I know, as that's the set-up I currently have).

You do realize that now, from 0-60, you'll have the edge on ALL the supersport 600s, the SV1000, Aprilia Tuono, and many more bikes you'd think would be faster? (unfortunately, once past 60, they'll leave you behind though)

No, that's a good price.

Top speed hasn't altered, and (on private land) I've seen 133 (remember mine's naked so doesn't have any aerodynamic advantage). If the road were long enough, there's a couple of mph left, but the revs are approx 10,500 at 130, so you're almost there. The good thing is that it reaches that speed a little more willingly because the gearing had been lowered and the engine can therefore spin a little more freely.

Unless they know how their clutch works

Most SVs wouldn't rev out in top anyway (mine does ) so droppign the gearing doesn't usually cost top speed.

Mine wouldn't rev out with standard gearing, and believe me, I tried.

Where did you get that lot for £65?
