Glossary of terms
Kilted Ginger on the SV Eccosse section made a very valid point. There is an awful lot of presumption that we all know terms such as Z6s, Stradas, ScottOiler, Yokes etc.
Can you guys in the know start adding to this post (poss make it sticky) with various terms/acronyms etc. This way we can have a single point of reference so that we dont have to search volumes of the forum when something crops up. As this grows I'll compile all the terms into a word/excel doc for people to download I'll kick off with tyres: Stradas = Pirelli DIABLO STRADA RoadAttacks = Continental RoadAttack Z6s/Roadtecs = Metzeler Roadtec Z6 BT014s = Bridgestone BT 014 Pilots = Michelin Pilot Road BT020s = Bridgestone BT 020 ScottOiler - anyone Yokes - anyone Etc etc |

Loobman - manual version of a scottoiler, punch it, it drips a pre-measured amount of oil to the chain by force of gravity. Can't really think of any others at the moment. |

Edit ScotOiler :- proprietry automatic chain lubrication device, works by utilising the engine vaccum, therfore only works when the engine is running. More sophisticated version of the Loobman.
Yokes - can be divided into Top and Bottom; Top the piece of metal holding the fork stanchions (chrome bits) in place and providing an attachment point for the Handlebars (Naked) Clipons (Sport). |

This is going to be a very long thread if everyone has to correct everyone else, before we can agree definitions
Good idea, and a finished document could be great |

OK Chaps/Chapettes. I've built a wee app for the glossary at
http://designoverload.co.uk/sv650 Please feel free to add any info you think relevant. It should be a great benefit for a lot of people. You can add images too but entries will be queud for approval - only to stop any dodgy pics being uploaded. Dont worry if you duplicate a description as I can compile all the different explanations together on a regular basis. It should build and make it a more interesting read to see the different explanations. |
