K4-5 GSXR 600 is tried and tested buddy, dunno bout the K2-3 though. Stick with the K4-5 as the spring rate and shock length will be better.

Keep your eye on eBay and you can get one for £30.

Some people will say to get an aftermarket shock that's built for the SV, abd while this is an excellent choice and you'll get the best results, it'll set you back a pretty penny. Best value for money is the gixer shock.

yep got a k5 gixxer shock sat waiting to go in my bike... can't comment on the quality/fitting process but I picked mine up for £40 with approx 1000 miles usage... (apparently)

Just fitted a K2 shock. It is exactly the right length but the reservoir sticks into the battery box so I cut it away at the front and packed it underneath to lift the battery. Also a bit of messing with the rubber sheet that keeps water out of that area. Have only ridden it about 20 miles but it feels much more plush than the old one. For risks associated with this change see thread on broken studs!

Would a k4-5 gsxr thou shock fit the same, but be slightly beefier?

Never mind, think I worked it out. The 600 seems to actually be the hardest.

Nope. K4/5 600 is softer than the K5 thou, however the though can be adjusted to give the correct settings. If your 13/14 stone up get the thou as it'll give you more adjustability for your weight, if your lighter, get the 6.

I'm 12.5, but most of the time I have weight on the back. Either pillion or tailpack/panniers. I thought the 600 had the hardest spring though? Just different geometry from the thou made it suitable?
