Default Dead Battery - can it be saved?

Haven't ridden my bike for a couple of weeks, went for a spin today and realised I left the sat nav in the charging cradle and the battery is dead.

No problem I thought, I'll jump it off my car. Bike would start okay but as soon as jump leads were taken off the bike died.

Took battery off and connected to optimate. Now optimate won't charge it, after the test charge the red warning light comes on. Put it back in bike, nothing!

Bike is less than 2 years old, battery has been fine until now.

Any ideas before I spend £60 on a new one?

P.S. battery is Yuasa YTZ7S, same as this one
Bike is a CBR1000RR 2013

Chz

If its dead its dead. Very little will resurrect a dead battery. Buckled plates can't be fixed.
If it won't hold charge and the fluids are at the right level it's probably got buckled plates and is shorting out one or more cells.
I'd suggest throw £50 at a Motobatt. Probably cheaper, and being glass matt, will last longer.

I'm surprised thats dead, it's also a glass matt battery. They're hard to kill. (Although i know someone who managed it, with repeated abuse, but thats another story)

Got a standard battery charger anywhere that you can throw on and leave it trickle charging? Optimates and the like can be a little oversensitive to battery condition at times.

Might be worth a shout.

Not got another charger. First time I tried to connect it it went into desulfate mode but I had to change the plug it was connected to and now every time I connect it it just goes to test charge.

Will see if I can borrow a trickle charger.

Well that's annoying, ordered a new battery but left the old one on the charger, after 48 hours on charge the Optimate is reporting it as healthy and the bike starts on the button.

Grrrrr

You will need a new battery at some point. Keep the new one on the shelf, i'm sure you'll use it or a forum member will buy it off you at some point.

Optimates have a hard time recovering deep discharged battery's.
Borrow someone's C-TEC they are generally better
