Default So much for the theory...

That you need to change your oil regularly!

That is amazing. They should try that again with a early 80's Harley.
I can imagine...

"After 30 minutes: the bike over-heated and seized. That is when we decided not to run the test at all..."

Hopefully nobody bought that bike afterward.
It may have survived the test but how long it'd last after that kind of abuse is another story entirely.
Was this from PB last year? Think I read it, may have a copy of the mag somewhere.

Yeah, I've see this before.

OMG

Look what the did to that poor bike!

I think the point of it is that thrashing a well maintained bike won't do any harm. I also think that different engine types will react differently. I think the V-twins would be a slightly different matter due to the extra surface area on the engine etc.

A bit extreme, but goes to show that these things are pretty reliable. I still know lots of people who insist the only way is to change the oil every 1000 miles/20mins whichever comes first. Although this lines the pockets of people like Castrol, Motul etc. I'm sure they'd rather be given credit for how good their oil is.

The question is, how long would it last if it wasn't bouncing off the limiter?
The only reason it blew the exhaust so dramatically is because of the spark being cut.
