Default Clare's Law

Will this save lives? More than 80 women were murdered by their partners last year.

Of course it only has a chance of working If women report domestic violence and the police take it seriously. Otherwise the next woman will be none the wiser until it's too late.

i believe so yes, if the women are switched on enough to actually check the records instead of getting manipulated by the bloke. i think this is a really good law in all honesty

I think it might help in a few cases but In all honesty for most people if they are thinking about going to the police and finding out that's probably a sign in itself that they need to get away.

This only tells you if the other person's been caught.

i think repeated offenders of domestic violence (male or female) should have a UV tattoo across their forehead saying such.

So you'd only know if you met them in a nightclub?

True.We do seem to put a great deal of trust in high tech databases to tell us all about other people when trusting our own judgement and instinct might be more useful.
These things are fair enough to catch out the serious and repeat offenders, but can also lead to a false sense of security if someone passes the inquiry, but is actually a complete nutter.

It might help in a handful of cases where nice, trusting middle-class women are wooed by some charmer they met on a dating site, but later turns out to be a psychopathic with conman with previous for preying on women.

However, I do think a lot of the chavvier girls who end up with violent, abusive partners know they're like that already and can often be attracted to it, sadly.

Rhianna doesn't help.
