Buying a 24,000 mile ZX6?
As the title suggests.. It's a mate who wants one. He likes the look of it but the mileage is scaring him.. He just wants some approval/dissaproval from an experienced rider?

Re: What do you think to this...?
it's a 10 year old bike with 24,000 miles on it, what's he worried about? Go see it and check the MOT certificates to see when the mileage was done.

Re: What do you think to this...?
Looks pretty decent - definitely go to view before buying and ask to see service history to back up the "regular oil & filter changes" plus other routine service items..
Apart from that if I was in the market for a ninja, it looks like a decent bike.

Re: What do you think to this...?
I love them things a friend has a 2002 with over 30,000 on the clocks not given him any trouble as far as I have heard.
But another mate (I have more than 2 can u believe it) has a zx9 and has no end of electrical probs but that one is a 98 maybe older hold on I go and find out. Just had a flick thro me piccys his is on an s reg so that's a errrrm 1998 I think but anyway good engine and box. Last edited by disco2; 30-04-13 at 06:16 PM. |

I'd go view that if it was near me!

Re: What do you think to this...?
I admit its a strange concept to many, but some people actually ride their bikes.

Re: What do you think to this...?
well like all ebay or auction listings; ask the normal questions and get the answers threw the "ask seller a question", they then become part of the item description, that mileage isn't a problem in itself, but it's how it's been accumulated, take someone who knows what they are looking at, they will soon tell if it's been tracked or abused (factory fairings are often stored and re-fitted before sale), if you know no one suitable, then you can get it inspected by a bike shop or engineer, don't forget HPI or another vehicle checking service.

Take a mate if your not sure. Get the reg off the seller and the last MOT test number and this will give you a good bit of info too https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle Do it with your bike and see what comes up. It sort of tied a bit up on my bike after purchase (Bought and never used after year one up to 2009)

Re: What do you think to this...?
24,000 miles is worrying someone? WTF?
That engine is essentially the same as the one in my ZX6 which has approximately 100,000 more miles on it than that one - still good.

Re: Buying a 24,000 mile ZX6?
I'd consider that pending having a look, always had a soft spot for a nice green kwak and like the shape more on this model!
