Default fork question

Have searched the arcives and can't find an answer for this:

I fitted new springs and racetech emulators yesterday. Everything is fine and feels great, though I have 1 query. The instructions tell you to fit washers between the spring and spacer and also the cap and spacer. This is fine except the washer between the cap and spacer can't be seated correctly because there is a clip on the underside of the preload cap.

Since the original setup only had 1 washer (between spring and spacer) I decided to just use 1. However glancing back at the instructions, Racetech emphasize that you must use 2 washers. So, is my current setup going to damage the caps/forks or is it fine and Racetech's more generic instructions don't cater for every bike variation?

Thanks
Luke

There is no washer between the preload cap and the spacer as standard and I see no reason why this would change with the introduction of emulators. I certainly didnt add one and I've suffered no ill effects.

I dont think it will be a problem, but i remember there being two washers on mine. One is a washer with a hole in it and the other is a flat solid one, unless this is specific to the K2.

The upper washer needs to be fitted, the preload adjuster is only ~15mm ish across, the spacer diameter is rather more. If you miss out the upper washer I imagine the preload adjuster won't do anything, it'll just pass through the spacer ineffectively.

When you talk about the upper washer are you refering to a solid flat disc 30-40mm or so in size? On the pointy the preload adjuster passes though a hole in the washer and is kept in place with an R clip, forming a single entity. I think on the curvey the adjuster and washer are sepperate. I expect this is where the confusion is arrising.

Thanks for all the replies, the cap is as squirrel described and the preload works so I guess it's is fine.
