In the meantime Ive got the speedo apart and it hasnt got too wet inside although there is some mud so I might be able to save it....
If you haven't already get some ACF50 and get that down the plug holes and soak the Speedo internals and use it on all the electrical connectors.

I wouldn't have rotated that engine with only having done what you did.

You need to drain all the oil and water from it first as all you've done is pump it round the system. You need to take the carbs off, they need to be drained. You also need to check the inlet tracks for water. You need to drain the engine oil. I would also be tempted to remove the oil gallery plugs as well in case there is any water in there. You need to remove the exhaust and drain that out. And you need to remove the valve covers to ensure there is no water in there.

And if you found mud in the speedo, guess where else it is...

wanted to wash bores out before draining oil/water but suppose I could have done it afterwards. Think its all academic really but will carry to try a start. Even if that works how reliable itll be in the future with corroding contacts etc is anyones guess....

It was in the lounge charging Just about the only good thing! Now the bores are oiled, sump drained, speedo internals cleaned but think Ill have to buy a new oil filter as there looks to be mud in the old one and I didnt want to spend anything on it until it started....

OMG, what a nightmare. I hope you can rescue it...as the battery wasn't in the bike, you may have saved the ecu. Good luck sorting it out.

well engine spins ok just on the starter solenoid. Ive disconnected, dried and sprayed up all the connectors I can find (although the injector plugs didnt want to come apart possibly as theyve been in the hottest area) so unless anyone can think of anything else I think I'll try a start.....
