Re: Running/exercise advice
sounds like shin splints.
what are you wearing on your feet? as you need proper running trainers for starters. http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cy...hinsplints.htm |

Re: Running/exercise advice
Second what Hovis said. Get the best running shoes you can afford.
Go to a specialist shop and have a consultation so you get some that suit your running style. |

Re: Running/exercise advice
Asics. Best trainers out there
All the runners use them. Mice gel in the soles. Aids in cushioning the feet. |

Re: Running/exercise advice
I look nothing like Chris Evans! But I would take the hit if it meant that I'd get a chance with Billie Piper!

Re: Running/exercise advice
I agree with hovis, good running shoes are important.
If you have problems, I would suggest you don't run on roads or paths and try to find a park instead. Running on hard surfaces over a long period without decent shoe's or training can seriously damage your knees, ankles and hips. Also set a pace and distance for yourself and as you improve, either increase the pace or increase the distance. DON't push to hard, you will only cause harm. I ran for Cheshire ( cross country ) for a few years in my younger days, now i'm too damn lazy. Good luck, PS seek medical advice before running! |

Poor little meeces !
I like New Balance personally. I find running on a treadmill easier as you are not actually propelling yorself forward, just keeping up with the belt. However I have had problems going back to road running after many, many treadmill miles. |

Re: Running/exercise advice
I'm shocked, I agree with nearly everything Hovis says... but get Asics any day. You can't run in your old plimmies, it will kill your legs. Get the best pair of running shoes - not cross trainers - that you can afford. If you can, get some wicking clothing as well, cotton is not nice when it gets sweaty.
Don't try to do too much too quick - if you haven't run before then do walk/run, and slowly build it up. Your leg pain is probably the start of shin splints caused by stretching too much too quick. Back off a bit, and do gentle - and I mean gentle - stretches before and after. Have a look at the various programs on www.runnersworld.co.uk. Running is just fantastic exercise, you can't beat it |
