cheers for the feedback guys - I'll double check with the missus what her insurance company told her to do, I always thought that in this case, I'd just ring up my insurance company and say "eyup, someone's prang'd my car, sort it out will ya" and that'd be the end of it.... but it sounds like they've told her to contact this guys company hence where we are with it all now.

It won't affect your NCB but it will affect the renewal price as it is classed as a 'claim'.

Just because you are not at fault or even in the car at the time of the incident, it is still classed as a claim and your insurance price will increase.

Exact same thing happened to me 2 years ago, just phoned my insurance and they palmed me off with one of the no fault claim companies, take an insurance out with them, blah, blah, blah. Was very apprehensive to start with, but they sorted the car and never heard from it again.

insurance is shít really not good that someone can drive into your vehicle while you're no where near, but it still ends up costing you at renewal time.

I argued when my renewal came thru', gave the poor woman at the insurance company so much grief and repeatedly told her she worked for a bunch of lying, cheating, thieving scumbags, wanted to say c**ts, but they do record these things, I believe.

by making it law that you have to buy their products, we are just set up to get screwed over , evry year.

Missus has just informed me NCB is not protected. Will we still have her NCB next year?

Depends, some will remove until they get their money back. Some will not bother doing that knowing it's a non fault claim

I would have thought someone hitting an immobile vehicle is a pretty clear cut case with blame providing it wasn't parked illegally.

Why do people sit on stuff like this? Bloke hits car. Drives off. Thats leaving teh scene of an accident. Phone police. Then Second call is the insurance company. Dont take any of their shizzle. You pay them to deal with stuff like this. Give them as many details as you can. You had witnesses.

However, its 6 months and i am sure that there is a statutory period that you can officially claim against a 3rd party.

Seek legal advice from one of these No win No Fee Legal Assistance companies if your insurance company will not assist. Failing that, Write to the ABI.

Your insurance company should deal with this full stop. Not you but you may be too late.

Think the statute of limitations for that is quite long so should still be good!
