SV650S K6 Brake Pad Pins.
Hey all,
Went to replace the front pads on my K6 last night and holding pin has corroded stuck. Looks like I'm going to have to cut the pins out however I'm struggling to find replacements. eBay seems to specify year models so can anyone confirm if the pins are the same for all years or if they were changes at all? Also found stainless steel ones but they don't have the nut on the end of the bolt, just a silver pin with the hole for the R clip. |

Re: SV650S K6 Brake Pad Pins.
I've got a set of these in mine https://titanclassics.com/product/su...per-pad-pin-2/ I could have gone stainless for less cash but I like Ti
Any pins will fit as the front calipers are the same on both pointy and curvy iirc. It sounds like you may have found the curvy rear pin if it's not got the little nut shape on the end https://titanclassics.com/product/su...liper-pad-pin/ Last edited by tom_e; 10-03-17 at 10:59 AM. |

Managed to find some pins that look like the originals, anything I can do to stop it happening again? I commute through winter so these types of things tend to suffer.

Use stainless or titanium replacements.
If using normal steel replacements then a good glob of copper grease in the blind hole. |

Re: SV650S K6 Brake Pad Pins.
Just had the same issue during a rebuild on my SK6, i filed down the edges of the pin and got a 7mm socket on it to break it loose. As tom said just use copper grease but be sure not to get it near the pistons or seals

Re: SV650S K6 Brake Pad Pins.
14 years ago, a forum member Elmerfud (Anyone remember him) gave me some very useful advice.
On buying any new Suzuki, once you get it home. remove all brake pad retaining pins, a little blob of copper grease in each blind hole and refit. 10 minutes preventative maintenance on a new bike, will prevent hours of cursing in the years to come.

+1. Worth doing the front mudguard fixings+side panel screws and greasing the axles too.

Agree with all 6 posts above, one reason I replaced the pins was because one pin only had a 'carpet tack' in place of a 'R' clip !
