Default Are my forks bent?

Just bought a 2005 sv650s 2K miles and 2K pounds Ebay 4644255343
Drove it 250 miles home no problems but my right hand is closer to me than my left (going in a straight line). How can I check if my forks are bent, or does it just require adjustment to the handlebars?.
Really appreciate any help.
Not as fast as my old Bandit - but more fun!
Once this is resolved, can't wait to change to a race can! and possibly fairing lowers if I can afford them.

check the lock-stops on the frame-head/bottom yoke, and on full lock measure the distance from bar end to tank, reverse and do the same on the other side, the clipons aren't adjustable on the SV as standard, and if the bar goes back far enough it may fail an MOT.

Or of course you could take it down the Anchor on Thursday, and I'll tell you.

Cheers Mark.

The forks might be twisted in the yokes, which may be easy to correct. Loosen the wheel spindle clamp(s) and the lower yoke pinch bolts. Bounce the front end up and down a bit and do it up again. The other thing to check is wheel alignment. Can the clip-ons move on the stanchions on faired bikes? I've never looked, being a naked type.

If it has been down the road, it might be a bent clipon … bearing in mind that he says the bar ends are damaged, this is quite likely.

The only true way to check for bent forks is to take them out and ‘roll’ them.

Get up to about 50mph and take your hands off the bars. If it veers to one side, the forks are bent.

Looks like a cm shorter on the right than left. Which Anchor? Godalming?

I would love to understand what you're on about - a lot scared of undoing bolts re steering and doing them up again.

There are several reasons why a bike might pull to one side, bent forks are rarely one of those reasons - not a reliable test.

It doesn't pull to either side with no hands
