oil leak - socket bolt next to drain plug.
can anyone tell me what the allan key socket screw is next to the oil drain bolt on my 1999 sv650 as it has started to drip oil onto the garage floor.
I am just a bit hesitant about loosening it off in order to fix it as it does not seem to tighten. |

Re: oil leak
It's just a plug for a drilling in the case mate. You can remove it OK (although be ready to catch all of your engine oil). All the swarf from the engine manufacture seems to collect in there so don't be massively concerned if it looks like there's some metal fragments in it.
It should torque up. If it won't tighten then someone's maybe had a go at it before and threaded it. I've got taps, helicoils and stuff if you need anything to attack it with. Anyway, never mind that, not seen you round here for a while. Pint? Last edited by TamSV; 14-02-12 at 06:51 PM. |
