Hypothetical question
If somebody was to suffer a chronic disease that rendered them incapable of working. What benefit rights would they have?, and are these means tested. Yes I know talk to a specialist in the subject. But I want to arm myself with some background knowledge first. Also, if your employers want you to resign because of ill health. Would you have a right to demand a early ill health retirement to gain full pension credits. Otherwise I would see an argument of constructive dismissal etc.

Dont know about some bits, but your pension fund should give you a "disabilty" pension if you are unfit to work again. This would be based on years service against how many years you would have done without the "disability"

Ha ha. sorry it ain't me. The weight is something I can fix. Unfortunately the person I am asking on behalf of can't be fixed so easily.

My mother has a muscle waisting disease that was diagnosed a few years ago, She was MEDICALLY RETIRED and now receives incapacity benefit and a mobility allowance. She was on £40k a year. There are lots of benefits that can be claimed including Housing benefit, council tax etc etc.
My mum went to the C.A.B and they were great. |

When I was off work and Bed/wheelchair/crutch bound for many months I went to DIAL (look them up on the net) and they gave me loads of advice about what I was and was not entitled to and will even fill out the forms if you need them to.
Thanks to them I got 2 years of Disability living allowance and a nice blue badge for my car and also some caring allowance for my mum who had the pleasure of washing my feet among other stuff when I was bed/chair bound. worth a try as they exsist to help and advise on things like this. |
