Question Why would rear dampers only be listed for '03 to '07

There is a Ohlins STX46( fitment 2003 to 2007) for sale, but I'm reluctant to buy, given the seller can't guarantee fitment on a 2011 (I've let them know it's a non ABS bike, but I don't think at makes any difference to them. Also, the return process will be costly after paying import fees, and then posting back to Italy.

Other then the optional ABS unit by the battery, why would Ohlins only list dampers up to 2007? What would have changed that could interfere with a damper on the 2008>

My SV650s is a Non-ABS 2011.

Any Ideas? Cheers

if the bike is a MK2 e.g. what we like to call a pointy then it will fit unless the shock has a piggyback damper adjuster. remote one is ok. see pic below for bike model.

Thank you 👍Yes it's a pointy, 2011 that I own now.
But my last few SVs were pointy too. My first one 2003 till the last 05 that I rode until my current white one. They all looked the same to me, hence why I don't get why the same Ohlins Damper will fit 03 to 07, but not newer ones🤷

Yes the damper mentioned is fitted with a fixed piggyback res.

Not aware of a difference from 08 on. You could send Ohlins an email. They list it the same on their own website but might be able to tell you if there’s a particular reason for that

Think the only difference on frame/bodywork on a pointy is the first year it was made sk3 models. Those had a different rear subframe with different shape infill panel below the seat. The seat may also be slightly different (think the locating lugs are longer on later bikes) and possibly the battery tray. All later pointy’s have the same rear bodywork so I don’t know why the listing would include an 03 but not an 08.

Thank you for all the input.
I've have a reply from Ohlins:

"Hello Mr,

thanks for your request.
Sadly we don´t have products listed for your model.
As we haven´t done a test fitment on your model, I´m unable to tell if the damper will fit.

Best Regards

Öhlins Europe"

So I assume it's simply that they haven't checked fitment on anything later then 2007.

I think ill abandon this idea of mine, "JLo" is mainly my commuter bike and as much as I love her, I shouldn't keep spending.
