As I know there are a few shooters on here, quick question regarding shotguns specifically, do you or is it safe to leave it cocked? I can't see why it would cause an issue but is there one?

by keeping a gun cocked you are keeping things under tension, same as if you kept the throttle open

I'm also curious as to why you would want to? The only reason i can think of is if you anticipate needing it in a hurry, in which case you've probably loaded it as well......and if you're asking if it's safe to keep a loaded weapon cocked then you probably shouldn't be anywhere near it!

Wait until you trip or fall whilst carrying a cocked gun, you'll soon find out!

that's what the safety is for, i always have mine cocked if I'm using it.

I'm reading this as having it cocked for storage with nothing in the chamber.
