Exhaust join crack
Hi guys,
First of all I am new here so thought i'd start with saying hello, I bought my Sv650 SY in july and must say im in love, have been enjoying the power as i only passed a few days after buying it. I've had a few minor problems but the big one at the moment is my exhaust; there was a piece of metal on the bit im going to show you in pictures. Long story short the metal snapped off in three bits the last being the bit i removed when cleaning it. I have done a temporary fix for now but looking on getting a tried and testing fix if possible. anyway ill pop a picture of the bike on there as well for the hall of fame |

Re: Exhaust join crack
Aren't you missing the whole heat shield? It also looks like the clamp is missing which was part of the original rear section of the exhaust.

Re: Exhaust join crack
That's nothing to really worry about so long as the exhaust doesn't leak its fine. They all rust in that area though I can't remember when I've seen one missing so much, the clamp on mine has long rusted off...

Re: Exhaust join crack
It has a peice of metal going around the join which rusted and snapped of so i have cleaned it up and added exhaust putty, I have also ordered a couple of clamps with some stainless tubing to go over it and secure it, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Re: Exhaust join crack
The clamp feel of my SY and the heat shield came loose.
Never replaced them but carried on riding for probably 50,000 miles. |
