Default 2005 Sv650s

I just recently bought an '05 SV650S and I've been noticing white smoke from the exhaust. It mostly happens when I start it or when I crack the throttle open, and sometimes it just comes and goes. It doesn't appear to be amazingly thick by any means, but it does have an 'exhausty?' smell to it.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a ton in advance.

if its happening when you start it and smoke is white, then IMHO not much to worry about as its just water vapour I would think, Both my bikes do this when its cold and damp in the air, especially at this time of year.

If it has a blue tinge and smells of oil, then thats more serious and would warrant more investigation.

Stop filling up with diesel, use regular 95 RON unleaded.

lol! thanks for quick replies. And i use premium tyvm!

But yeah, it does happen mostly when the motor is cold and a fresh start, the only thing that somewhat worries me is the fact that it does it when its warm and i grab a hand full of throttle. Well, let me rephrase, it expels the gas after i release the gas.

Normal or cause for more investigation? Let me know!

I thought that too, after experimenting with super-unleaded on a variety of Japanese bikes and my old Daytona there's no benefit whatsoever.

What's the mileage on the bike? Are you having to top up your oil frequently? I used to get similar indications on a car I had once. That turned out to be due to worn valve guides.

But for a few pence a litre its a cheap 'performance enhancing' mod.

Not a placebo at all.

I never noticed a difference on any of the bikes I tried it on.

The bike just hit 10.2k miles. As for the oil, i wouldn't really know because ive only had it for just over a week. But i will most definitely keep an eye on it. I hope the problem isn't that involved >.<
