SV650 - SV650s
Hi everyone.
I have an SV650s which is good fun, and does what I want it to do (be more suitable than my Honda CG125 for long journeys and where speed is needed) but, I'm not a fan of the forward seating position. My question is, Is the naked SV650 more of an upright more comfortable riding position like the majority of standard big bikes (not racing style ones like Yamaha R1 e.t.c.)?? From looking at naked SV650 bikes, it does look like it is more of an upright position. regards, Matt |

Yep that naked is much more upright so if thats what your after get one.
But you might miss the fairing on long motorway rides... depends what sort of riding you do I guess. That said theres plenty of people on here who do big motorway milleage on naked bikes, so alot of it is just getting used to it.

Aye, the naked SV is more of an upright riding position.

Re: SV650 - SV650s
Its personal choice. Both of mine are faired, but I prefer that. I can't sit in an upright position with my arms up in the air for long, because my shoulders are knackered. The slouch of over the tank is preferable. Although with the standard screen on a motorway I feel like I'm being battered with the wind in the head. That was remedied by a pair of double bubble screens
As MissYC says a nakid will give you a neck like a bulldog...but I don't think that would look preferable on a young lady!!!!! I've tried two nakid SVs, and I can understand the fun appeal, but I also felt like I was sat in the air, rather than on it!

From what I've seen when looking at people on naked and faired, the riding position looks more sporty and I'd be inclined to get backache if it was me on the faired. But then people have different body shapes, what suits one person will be horribly uncomfy for another obviously. |

Re: SV650 - SV650s
exactly MissYC. I find a nakid one horribly uncomfortable, and I find em harder to push around with the handlebars being higher. Clip ons stop my shoulders from suddenly popping out, the nakid bars I can feel my shoulders straining
I think the 'sporty' look is not so sporty when your on it

Re: SV650 - SV650s
No its not, its quite conservative really, I remember riding my SVS after spending alot of time on my GSXR and it felt really upright compared to it.

Re: SV650 - SV650s
Thanks for all the posts back so quick guys.
I struggle to ride the sv650s well compared to my cg125, nothing to do with power difference or weight but the position mainly. I find I have to grip the tank a lot more with legs otherwise my wrists start hurting need to ride It more though definately to get used to it so I can then decide what to do |

Re: SV650 - SV650s
Try this for sore wrists.
Unbolt the brake and clutch levers and then spin the round the bars. Try and get them set so that you can draw an imaginary straight line from your elbow, through your wrist to the tips of your fingers, you should find as I did it makes your bike much more comfortable to ride. One of the best mods I did to my SV and I did the same on my GSXR.
