Scotland trip - luggage advice
Hi all,
I'm off for a weeks riding north of the border at the end of this month and I'm looking for some advice on what luggage is best, I was thinking maybe tankbag and panniers maybe tailpack? Was hoping people could reccomend some and maybe point me toward good places to buy them from as well? thanks! |

Have I posted this in a completely inappropriate place? Was hoping someone might have replied. Come on guys and girls, what do you use or recommend?

oxford sports stuff is great, on your own just a tankbag and a load of bungees and a ratchet strap is fine. 2up you need panniers really.

Re: Scotland trip - luggage advice
I've got tank bag, tail pack and throw over panniers - I believe that Oxford do a complete set for about 70-80 quid.
I have to admit that I have never used them and first time will be this weekend for Glencoe Massacre so don't even know how they will attach. |

Re: Scotland trip - luggage advice
Nah I went to AR07 without panniers, it's easier to just bungee it all onto the pillion seat. Cheaper too.

Re: Scotland trip - luggage advice
Best thing is to go to your local bike shop and try them on the bike as well. For a week in scotland all I used was an expandable tailpack but then we were staying in youth hostels. With camping gear I reckon a set of panniers should be enough on your own. HTH.

Re: Scotland trip - luggage advice
I totally agree with Jdubya. I did well to check out the fit before buying, a pair of panniers I fancied went right over the rear indicators and wouldn't fit in well, pushing them forward obstructed the rear footrest making taking up a pillion impossible. You may have to take a friend pillion next time and they'd be useless. Best check out at a shop then the internet for these things. Same goes for the tankbag, some fit better then others.
