Default K2 Seized idle adjuster.

Hi there,

Trying to adjust my idle speed but the adjust knob just won't budge! I've squirted it with penetration fluid. I'm not too sure what screw piece went inside since that has been damaged.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm trying to turn it and turn it, but there does not appear to be enough leverage on the cable itself, and the adjuster too. But my bike is sitting too low at idle (around the 1k mark) so really need to adjust it.

Thanks guys
K

Lift the tank and you'll see the adjuster screw that the flexible drive turns. If the screw gets stuck the drive, being flexible, often just winds up rather than turning it.
Squirt some oil or whatever on the threads of the screw, and using a pair of pliers carefully grip the screw by the plain section where the flexible drive meets it, once you've got it moving try to get some oil into the threads on the mount.

Thanks mate. I will give it a shot at the weekend weather permitting. How easy should it be to adjust normally? Is it usually quite easy to turn?

Cheers

Yes, it should turn easily, but not often being used it's not unknown for it to get a bit stuck.
It's usually not that badly stuck, but the flexible drive is just that - flexible, so can't pass much torque to the adjuster screw, if the screw doesn't turn easily the spring in the the flexy drive just winds up.
A bit of oil and a wiggle and it'll very likely be just fine.

Thanks mate. Looking outside now, it is absolutely tipping it down. I hope it is not like this when I plan to work on the bike!
