Newbie saying hello
Hi, just picked up a 1999 curvy model I believe from reading people’s posts. The idea is to learn some bike maintenance over the winter and turn it into a track bike. Not sure weather to go modern or retro?? Anyway, first problem is the battery, put on booster and it starts but struggles a few hours later. Next problem is idling at 4K. Looking forward to reading your posts and joking the group. Oh I ride a S1000R as my road bike but the SV is way more noisy!!! (Tried attaching a photo, not sure if it worked) cheers

Re: Newbie saying hello
Hello and welcome.
It didn't. You have to use a remote image hosting site, the attachment thing here stopped working a while back. so you have to use The SV has a bit of a noisy engine I suppose, I didn't think it was excessive but I always wear earplugs It does get noisy if the cam chain is worn or the tensioners stick. |

Re: Newbie saying hello
Thanks guys, didn’t really have a good luck at the bike when I got it last weekend and been busy since. However just had a brain wave today and realised it has a manual choke...... this could be a long winter

Re: Newbie saying hello
Fuel injection is so nice, just start up and ride off and better economy as a bonus. Previous bikes have been a pig on the choke and something else to fiddle with when you are moving...
